Star Wars Holiday Special, 1978, CBS. Vintage set of (2) Umatic cassettes in original cases featuring the 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special, a bizarre, made-for-TV event that aired a year after A New Hope. Centered around “Chewbacca" (Peter Mayhew) and his family celebrating “Life Day" on their home planet of Kashyyyk, the special features “Han" (Harrison Ford), “Luke" (Mark Hamill), “Leia" (Carrie Fisher), and others in strange, campy segments, including musical numbers and a memorable animated sequence introducing “Boba Fett". The special also includes celebrity guest stars like Bea Arthur and Harvey Korman, adding to its odd charm. The special was met with harsh criticism and has never been re-broadcast or officially released in full, except for its more popular animated segment. As a result, it gained a cult following, with fans keeping it alive through bootleg copies of the original 1978 CBS broadcast and sharing it on content platforms, giving it a mysterious, underground reputation.
