Production used hero puppet constructed of cast resin, silicone and foam latex over a steel and aluminum mechanical articulating armature, attached to the bundle of servo motors that were used to give him motion (remote control is included). Voice by Tommy Lee Jones, this puppet was created by the artists at the Academy Award-winning effects house, Stan Winston Studio. Included scale director's chair was used for post-filming interviews. Mechanicals present but untested. Directed by Joe Dante, the sci-fi action-comedy features a group of military-themed action figures, the Commando Elite. Programmed with military tactics, the Commando Elite clash with the more peaceful Gorgonites, leading to chaotic and humorous battles that spill into protagonist "Alan's" (Gregory Smith) home. The film explores themes of consumerism, war, and technology while combining practical effects, animatronics, and CGI to create memorable action sequences. With a strong cast including Kirsten Dunst and Dennis Leary, it offers a satirical take on violence and the impact of toys in society. Puppet measures approx. 12 x 8 x 7 in.
