Vintage bespoke black wool double-breasted coat with short collar, 2-faux hip flap pockets, black satin lining, gusseting at rear arm seams to allow for movement, and retaining internal Western Costume Co. bias label with typed, "Bruce Lee." Bruce Lee's portrayal of "Kato" in The Green Hornet made not only the character, but martial arts more popular in the U.S. during the 1960s. Lee insisted on using his martial arts skills instead of traditional fistfights, which became a hit with audiences. Van Williams, who played the "Green Hornet," even asked Lee to teach him some moves. In a Batman crossover episode, Kato's fight with "Robin" (Burt Ward) ends in a draw because Lee refused to show Asian martial arts being defeated. Lee's impact was evident in a TV series tie-in coloring book titled "Kato's Revenge Featuring the Green Hornet." The show's success, especially in Hong Kong where it was known as "The Kato Show," helped launch Lee's adult television and film career. Exhibiting minor production wear and age. From the personal collection of the legendary Greg Jein. In very good to fine condition. Comes with copy of LOA from Batman and The Green Hornet executive producer William Dozier.
