Production used stunt mask constructed of polyfoam-filled cast slip latex, expertly studio painted in burnt flesh tones and professionally distressed around the exposed areas of the iconic villain's face, with red contours representing muscle and sinew beneath ghastly torn skin. Adorned for display with prosthetic-grade eyes of an unsettling yellow hue that seem to glow against his disfigurement, the piercing black pinprick pupils inject an eerie vibrancy into his visage. Wes Craven's New Nightmare is a meta-horror film that blurs the lines between fiction and reality, as the actors from the original A Nightmare on Elm Street series are haunted by their own creation, "Freddy Krueger" (Robert Englund). In this film, Freddy is reimagined with a darker, more primal look that emphasizes his terrifying nature and departs from the campy portrayals of previous installments. This redesign effectively reflects the film's themes of fear and the power of storytelling, making him a more formidable presence.
