The Ne'er-Do-Well, 1923, Metro Pictures. Collection of (3) original lobby cards from the silent film era. The Ne'er-Do-Well (1923) is a silent comedy film directed by Alfred E. Green and based on Rex Beach's 1911 novel of the same name. The film stars Thomas Meighan, Lila Lee, Gertrude Astor, John Miltern, Gus Weinberg, and Sidney Smith. The screenplay was written by Rex Beach and Louis Stevens. It tells the story of a man who is initially irresponsible and carefree but finds himself caught up in events that force him to take responsibility and learn life lessons, following the themes of Beach's novel. The film was released on April 29, 1923, by Paramount Pictures, and it became a part of early 1920s Hollywood cinema. However, like many silent films, The Ne'er-Do-Well has been lost to time and is no longer available for viewing, making this set of lobby cards a rare glimpse into what would otherwise have been completely lost. Exhibiting expected age and handling, bumped corners, and some corner loss not affecting images. In vintage good to very good condition.
